The Gale Hill Radio Hour

Mental Health, Resilience & Versatility

Kate Jones Season 1 Episode 9

In November 2017, Justin Alan Hayes voluntarily checked himself into a hospital's psych ward after years of dealing unsuccessfully with anxiety and other issues. That decision put him on the path where he is today.

Since 2017, he's been teaching marketing at the college level as well as serving as a career coach to his students. Along those lines, he wrote a guide to help young people prepare to enter the workforce or, if they already have a job, move up to a better one.

Justin also has written a deeply personal book about recovering from mental illness, and he started a nonprofit that aims to help others on their road to recovery. Besides all that, he has two podcasts. You can find out more on his websites: The House of You and Voices for Voices.

In my second segment, Katie Andrews talks about resilience, a trait that she began developing when she was a senior in high school. It has served her well ever since.  Here, Katie offers advice on how to respond when life doesn't go our way. Katie's interview begins 29 minutes into the episode.

Closing out today's episode at the 34-minute mark, Tony Teshara, Director of Sales for the technical staffing and software development firm Handle, talks about being fearless in his career and bouncing back from adversity.

This is Kate Jones. Thank you for listening to The Gale Hill Radio Hour!
